I’m not sure if you have seen the new commercial for Allstate insurance but it is awesome.  I can’t find it on youtube but it is of a little neighborhood with people and cars coming and going but it looks like everything is a miniature in a model train setup but it is real.  I did a little research and found out it is filmed using a tilt-shift lens.  Then I found these amazing videos by Keith Loutit, and I was even more blown away.  My favorite in his series is Bathtub IV.

I want one of these lenses sooooo baaaad!  However, this item has been added to the ‘If I win the lottery’ list because of it’s $2000 price tag.  I did find a tutorial on how to make one but I’m not so sure.  Maybe someday.  For now I’ll just admire the work of others who have this wicked cool piece of equipment.
