Does anyone have any good ideas on what to do with my animals’ water dish?  Now that Evelyn is hyper-moile this is a constant source of fascination.  Just today I came into the kitchen and she was sitting next to it, her hands were wet up to the wrist and there was water all over the floor.  She was just sitting there with her hands on her legs and a little smile that said “What?”.  Then a little while later I heard a thud and she started crying.  I turned around and she was lying on her tummy, two feet away from the bowl and both legs wet up to her knees.  I don’t know what she did.  This girl is ridiculous.  Any ideas?

Friday Favorites:  Carnation Instant Breakfast.  I have had a hard time keeping on weight while nursing this baby and this is a staple.

My Aerolatte milk frother.

Gretchen gave me this last year with a stainless milk pitcher.  I put the pitcher of milk over my burner and froth away.  It’s great for hot cocoa and chai lattes and also stirs up a mean glass of Carnation Instant Breakfast.

Lastly,  Arby’s Spicy Three Pepper sauce.  This is possibly the best condiment EVER.  I want to try to make it myself for some tater tots.  It has lots of corn syrup and preservatives in it so it would be great if I could duplicate it but I haven’t found a recipe for it yet.

And here is some sunshine on this drizzly day.

Have a great weekend!

October 16th, 2009

We have been really sick and lazy around here and things seem to be moving at a snail’s pace, although it’s the middle of October.  It seems like I just put the first of the month post up two days ago and now I have to think about Halloween.  The quick passage of time never really bothered me before:  can’t wait to be sixteen, eighteen, twenty-one, married, a mom.  Every year got me closer to something I wanted.  But now that I have a child I find myself desperately trying to slow down.  Like trying to hold light in your hands.  She grows so fast.  Within two weeks she has gone from dragging herself around to crawling to pulling herself up to standing to turning away from the table thinking she might walk.  Sigh.  Children never really belong to us, they are their own.

She helped me clean out her closet (i.e. eat tags and hangers, plow through piles, and tip over laundry baskets) the other day in search of winter clothes that will fit her.  I folded and put away her summer clothes; tiny socks and dresses, sun hats, shorts and rompers.  So little.  I cried.  What if she’s my only girl?  My only child?  I hope not.

Ah, move on Andria, because she isn’t waiting for you.  Que sera, sera.

So now for some favorite things for this week:

Polyvore. Highly addictive. I found this site last year and like to mess around with it.  I used it this week to put together outfits for me and Evelyn for my cousin Ingrid’s wedding tomorrow. (Don’t ask me what Scott is going to wear because I don’t dress him, only helpful suggestions.)

Modcloth.  I love this store, great pieces. I should have these cute shoes by this afternoon.

Lastly, my new Cuisinart mini food processor and Beaba freezer tray.

Evelyn is starting to eat chunkier foods these days and I’m trying to get better about making her meals.  I know it seems silly, but I would really like a baby food cook book for some ideas, or be directed to some websites if anyone knows of good ones.

Have a good weekend!
